ShellPOINT and sensor network

Oysters Tasmania's Sensor Network has been installed throughout Tasmania, with support from the Tasmanian Government, and Tasmanian Smart Seafood Partnership with NRM South and Tasmanian Seafood Industry Council.

The sensor network provides real-time data on salinity, water temperature, and depth in shellfish growing areas.

The sensor data can be accessed by growers via the ‘ShellPOINT’ portal, where rainfall, river flow and ShellMAP harvest status are also made available.
Dashboards are designed to be easy to interpret with need-to-know information, and can be accessed on the computer or phone.

The TSSP partnership included a focus on education and training, with ShellPOINT being made available to school users. Outputs from this partnership include a training video and classroom resource highlighting the role our industry plays in monitoring the marine environment.

If you would like ShellPOINT access, or have questions or concerns about sensors, email us at [email protected]
