Animal welfare and biosecurity

Tasmania’s Animal Health Act 1995:

• authorises restrictions on the movement of oysters and equipment to prevent the spread of Pacific Oyster Mortality Syndrome,
• requires the reporting of disease outbreaks.

​This Act will be replaced by the Biosecurity Act 2019.
