MARINE FARMING LEASES

Tasmania’s Marine Farming Planning Act 1995 empowers the Primary Industries Minister to:
  • issue marine farming leases,
  • impose fees on lessees, and
  • impose lease conditions.
A lease needs to be in a marine farming zone.  Each zone is within the area of a marine farming development plan. ListMAP shows each plan’s area, the zones, and the leases.  Individual lease documents are not publicly available.
Lease conditions include conditions set out in the relevant plan.
New plans, and changes to existing plans, are approved by the Minister following advice from a Review Panel.
