POMS Question & Answer Fact Sheets Now Available
Most growers would have heard about POMS (Pacific Oyster Mortality Syndrome) and the associated virus (OsHV-1 μVar) [PDF 1.1 MB] that has been so destructive to oysters in Europe, New Zealand and recently in New South Wales. However until recently there has been very little information sent out to growers on the subject.
To address this gap, and as part of a Fisheries Research and Development Corporation funded project focusing on POMS (“Understanding and planning for the potential impacts of OsHV1 on the Australian Pacific oyster industry”), RDS Partners has developed some fact sheets to help growers be aware of the issues and plan for any potential outbreaks in Tasmania.
Two fact sheets have been produced:
- a long version [PDF 427 KB] (3 pages) for web use and those interested in more information, and
- a more concise short version [PDF 381 KB] (2 pages) that is meant to printed out in hard copy for growers to display.
We urge all growers to print out multiple copies of the short version of the fact sheet so that it can be displayed in places such as lunch rooms, offices, notices boards, sheds etc.
We seek your assistance in helping to distribute and promote the fact sheets as much as possible as you see fit (emails, web, newsletters, mail outs, etc).
